this virtual COP, People for Peat will present the findings of the current peatland landscape in Cambodia. The findings are collated from the desk review and online meetings/interviews with peatland stakeholders in the country. In addition, all participants will discuss several important issues regarding peatlands, especially related to peatland management in Cambodia. The participants will also discuss required policies to support the sustainability of peatlands and about activities that are important to carry out in an effort to support sustainable peatland management. The Conference of Parties (COP) will be conducted through virtual meeting (Zoom apps) with resource persons from Cambodia. The objectives of the virtual COP are as follows:

  1. To do stocktaking on Cambodia’s baseline of peatland policies & regulations, management and existing research in Cambodia
  2. To identify the existing research gaps on peatland topics in Cambodia and the specific topics of research required to support sustainable peatland management in Cambodia
  3.  To influence, streamline, and empower non-state actors to support sustainable peatland management in Cambodia
