In this virtual COP, People for Peat will present the findings of the current peatland management landscape in Thailand. The findings are collated from desktop reviews and online meetings/interviews with peatland stakeholders in the country. In addition, all COP participants are invited to discuss important issues in peatland management in Thailand. The participants will also discuss policies required to support sustainable peatland management, which would involve economic and awareness activities that are important to support sustainable peatland management. The Conference of Parties (COP) will be conducted through virtual meeting (Zoom apps) with resource persons from Thailand.

The objectives of the virtual COP are as follows:

  1. To do stocktaking on Thailand’s baseline of peatland policies & regulations, management and existing research in Thailand
  2. To identify the existing research gaps on peatland topics in Thailand and the specific topics of research required to support sustainable peatland management in Thailand
  3. To influence, streamline, and empower non-state actors to support sustainable peatland management in Thailand.
