The ASEAN Peat Ranger consists of selected champions in local communities/villages of eight ASEAN Member States (AMS). The selected champions will be provided with knowledge on peatland management which will then be transferred to other villagers through village meetings/events organized by training participants. The establishment of Peat Ranger aims to increase awareness and a better understanding of communities on sustainable peatland management.

People for Peat (PFP) in cooperation with Dr. Cherdsak of Thale Noi Wetland Foundation (TWF) organized Peat Ranger Training in Thailand. Participants are communities living in Kuan Kreng Landscape (KKL), an area located in upper Southern Thailand, covering an area of about 560 square kilometers in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, and Songkhla Provinces.
