The Philippines Peat Ranger Training

The ASEAN Peat Ranger comprises selected champions in local communities/villages of eight ASEAN Member States (AMS). The selected champions will be provided with knowledge on peatland management which will then be transferred to other villagers through village meetings/events organized by training participants.
Whenever possible, the project will make the best use of a network of Transboundary Peat Experts to deliver on-site foundational training on peatlands, focussing on three topics: peat fire prevention, peat water management, and sustainable livelihood on tropical peatlands. Besides, we will also deliver additional topic that suits the local condition. Three additional topics are proposed to be presented during peat ranger training in the Philippines, including community-based ecotourism development, peat swamp revegetation protocol, and environmental law that can be used to protect peatlands. These three additional topics will be delivered by three local experts 1) Dr. Donna Reyes, 2) Dr. Ernesto Militante, and 3) Atty. Ronnan Reposar. Another speaker, For. Marjorie Pamplona, wIll also deliver a topic about the Forest Foundation Philippines Grants Program. Peat ranger training in the Philippines will be held in Summit Hotel on September 21-22, 2022.
