Apr 28, 2022 by Irene Chooi

KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA:  The People for Peat (PFP) coalition - also known as the European Union Sustainable Use of Peatland and Haze Mitigation in ASEAN (EU-SUPA) Component 2 Programme - has announced their 2022 PFP ASEAN Peatland Photo Contest.

Residents of ASEAN countries, except Brunei and Singapore, are invited to submit their entries to three (3) categories: Photography (using DSLR), Mobile Photography, and Visual Storytelling. The competition will run from 27th April 2022 to 6th June 2022. Winners will be announced  on 24th July 2022 and the winner in each category will be awarded 100 Euros.

Announced at the closing of PFP’s well-received first symposium of the year, the competition is part of the coalition’s attempt to uncover hidden talent in ASEAN while increasing public awareness of the value of peatlands and their role in ecosystems, livelihoods, and communities. PFP also hopes the contest will engage the public to share the beauty and importance of peatlands in Southeast Asia through creative expressions.
